Overview #
If a form does not submit or notification emails are missing, the cause may be related to form configuration, WordPress, email delivery, caching, or a third-party integration.
Use the steps below to narrow down the problem safely.
Problem 1: The Form Does Not Appear #
Check that Lumo Forms is installed and active and that the embedded form ID is correct.
If you use a shortcode, confirm that it is placed in a supported shortcode-processing area. If you use the Gutenberg block, confirm that the correct form is selected.
Clear relevant page caches and test again.
Problem 2: The Form Does Not Submit #
Open the page in a browser and test the form using valid and invalid data.
Check required fields and validation messages. If the form remains stuck, inspect the browser console and available server logs for errors.
Temporarily test with a default WordPress theme or in a staging environment if you suspect a theme or plugin conflict. Avoid deactivating security or payment tools on a live production site without a safe test plan.
Problem 3: Submission Succeeds but No Email Arrives #
First, confirm whether the form submission itself was saved or otherwise processed.
Then check the recipient address, spam folder, website email configuration, and available email logs.
WordPress’s default email delivery can be unreliable on some hosting environments. A correctly configured SMTP service may improve deliverability.
Also review your sending domain’s SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration where applicable.
Problem 4: The Form Looks Broken #
Clear the relevant caches and test without CSS or JavaScript optimization features that may be interfering with the form.
Review the browser console and check for conflicting styles from the theme or page builder.
Test on desktop and mobile devices.
Problem 5: An Integration or Payment Fails #
Verify the connection credentials, gateway mode, currency, provider account status, and integration assignment.
For payment issues, confirm the transaction with the payment provider and verify that your server has received and processed the relevant payment confirmation. Do not treat a browser redirect alone as proof of payment.
What to Include When Contacting Support #
To help diagnose the issue, provide:
- Lumo Forms version
- WordPress version
- PHP version
- A clear description of the expected and actual behavior
- Reproduction steps
- Relevant error messages or sanitized logs
Remove passwords, secret API keys, payment details, customer personal information, and other sensitive data before sharing logs.
Final Recommendation #
Reproduce the issue on a staging site whenever possible. Make one change at a time and retest after each change so you can identify the actual cause.
