# How to Configure Form Notifications and Confirmations

## Overview

After someone submits a form, two things may need to happen: your team may need to receive a notification, and the visitor should receive clear feedback.

Lumo Forms' available notification and confirmation settings depend on the installed version. This guide explains the configuration principles to follow.

## Email Notifications

An email notification informs a website owner, sales team, or other recipient that a form has been submitted.

### Step 1: Open Your Form Settings

Open the form you want to configure and locate its notification settings, if available.

### Step 2: Choose the Recipient

Enter the email address that should receive submissions.

For example, a general contact form might send notifications to your business support inbox.

Use a monitored mailbox rather than an address nobody checks.

### Step 3: Configure the Message

Choose a meaningful subject line, such as:

**New Contact Form Submission**

If the plugin supports field-value tokens or dynamic email content, include the relevant submission information.

Avoid including unnecessary personal information in notification emails. Consider privacy and data-retention requirements when deciding what to send.

### Step 4: Save and Test

Save the settings and submit a test entry.

Check the recipient's inbox, spam folder, and email logs if available. A successful form submission does not guarantee that the email reached its destination.

## Confirmation Messages

A confirmation tells visitors that their submission was received or explains what happens next.

Where supported, configure the form's confirmation behavior to display a concise message after a successful submission.

Example:

**Thank you for contacting us. Your message has been submitted. We will review your request and respond if a reply is needed.**

Do not promise a response time unless your team can consistently meet it.

## Troubleshooting Notification Emails

If notifications do not arrive:

1. Confirm that the recipient address is correct.
2. Submit another test entry.
3. Check the spam or junk folder.
4. Verify your website's outgoing email configuration.
5. Configure a reputable SMTP service if needed.
6. Check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment for your sending domain.
7. Review available server and email logs.

## Best Practices

Use a reliable sender address on your own domain when possible. Keep confirmation messages short and helpful. Test notification delivery after changing your WordPress hosting, email service, or domain settings.
